Second International Winter Tourism Symposium

“Intelligent Transport Solutions for Winter Tourism”, March 19th to 20st, 2012

Some 65 percent of all travelers use the Internet to get current information about hotels, lodges, ski lifts, snow conditions, modes of travel and other combined options and to plan their winter vacation in advance on their computers. And providers are responding to this trend: Hotels and other lodging establishments as well as tourism and leisure companies use the many telematics applications to plan their resources, to effectively allocate their capacities and to expand their range of services, but also to increase the safety of athletes, to reduce waiting times, to serve their clients and to tap into new customer groups.

Leading speakers from the fields of telematics and winter tourism presented and discussed these topics at the International Winter Tourism Symposium, which was held for the second time this year from March 19 to 20, 2012, in Innsbruck. Visitors were able to gather a great deal of information, exchange experiences, make new contacts and initiate new cooperation projects at this conference.

Traffic Telematics Symposium

“E-Mobility Needs Telematics”, October 21st, 2010

For Europe and Austria, a shift from the internal combustion engine to electric motors in private transport is of central strategic importance. A large number of initiatives at the EU level and a clear action plan for e-mobility from the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) are intended to support the nationwide introduction of the necessary infrastructure under a wide range of conditions. Austria is at the forefront of this movement with its national initiatives, and the BMVIT has created a basis for the introduction of e-mobility with its action plan.

The ATTC is supporting these initiatives with a series of events – in particular on the topic of “Requirements for Telematics in Connection with E-Mobility.” As part of a symposium held in cooperation with the Austrian Society for Traffic and Transport Science (ÖVG), high-ranking representatives from business, system operators, industry and science discussed principal functionalities and solution proposals for e-mobility from the field of telematics in three focus panels.
